Phyllis A. Chrisman was born and reared in the mid-west, but upon first stepping foot in California, abdicated her citizenship in the “Show-Me” state and became a dedicated Californian.  After having two children and moving 26 times in 16 years as a Naval officer’s wife, she did an “about face,” and has since resided in Sunnyvale with her wife of 45 years.  Since retiring from a career as Mgr./Dir. of Human Resources for various Silicon Valley companies, she has focused on her avocation, teaching piano to beginning through intermediate students, age “almost 5 to past 50.”

She is also an avid choral singer, most recently singing for 15 years and serving on the Board of Directors for 10 years with Soli Deo Gloria, an auditioned choir which rehearses in Alameda.  She is currently singing with Schola Cantorum, which rehearses in Sunnyvale.  A high point was the opportunity to sing Haydn’s Magnificat at Carnegie Hall in New York City!  Her previous writing includes ad copy, as well as a prolific sideline ghostwriting persuasive resumes for the unemployed. Phyllis earned her BS in Human Relations from the University of San Francisco.

Kelly Mou is a wizard, a dystopian protagonist, a cyborg, and occasionally a freshman at CAL, in Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies. She is the Creative Director of a club called Theatre 4 Charity. When she’s not playing guitar or writing essays, she’s trying to memorize her monologue the day before she performs. Her favorite book is Cats Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, her favorite living artist is Anna Deavere Smith, her favorite dead writer is Samuel Johnson. Her favorite musical is “Rent.”

Tom van Nuenen is an author and educator based in Berkeley. He is a disciplinary orphan who holds a PhD in culture studies, wrote a book on tourism and digital media, works as a data science consultant at UC Berkeley, has published widely on algorithmic culture, and occasionally writes a song.
